Alessia Tassoni

Alessia Tassoni has a diverse range of work experience in the field of biosciences. Alessia is currently working at Annexon Biosciences, where they hold the position of Associate Director since February 2023. Prior to this, they served as a Senior Scientist from February 2022 to February 2023 and as a Scientist from August 2020 to January 2022.

Before joining Annexon Biosciences, Alessia worked at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA as a National MS Society Postdoctoral Fellow. Alessia'sresearch focus during this period was on identifying visual disability-specific molecular pathways in multiple sclerosis (MS) and developing neuroprotective treatment strategies for visual loss prevention or repair. Alessia conducted various experiments using techniques such as RNA sequencing, immunofluorescence, and microscopy. Alessia'swork at UCLA lasted from October 2015 to August 2020.

Alessia also had a research collaboration with Quethera Ltd from January 2015 to July 2015.

Before moving to the United States, Alessia conducted their PhD research at the University of Cambridge in the field of clinical neurosciences. Alessia'sproject focused on stem cell therapy for optic nerve protection and repair. Alessia investigated the integration of stem cells in the retina by modulating glial reactivity and studied pathways involved in graft-induced reactive gliosis. Alessia also collaborated with Quethera Ltd in designing a gene therapy construct for promoting sustained brain-derived neurotrophic factor signaling in neurons. Alessia'swork at the University of Cambridge spanned from September 2010 to July 2015.

Furthermore, Alessia gained research experience during an internship at Pfizer in 2014. Alessia'swork involved investigating and modulating pathways related to retinal reactive gliosis. Alessia also conducted gene expression data analysis and performed tool compound screening for drug development.

Alessia's earliest work experience was as a Master Thesis Student at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele Milano from October 2008 to October 2009.

Alessia Tassoni began their education at the Università degli Studi dell'Aquila in 2004, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Biology, General. Alessia completed this program in 2007. Following their undergraduate studies, they attended the Università degli Studi di Milano from 2007 to 2009, earning a Master's degree in Molecular Biology. Furthermore, Alessia continued to pursue higher education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Clinical Neurosciences from the University of Cambridge, spanning from 2011 to 2015.
