Tanya Washington is a seasoned professional in the field of juvenile justice, currently serving as a Senior Associate at the Annie E. Casey Foundation since June 2005. In this role within the Juvenile Justice Strategy Group, Tanya leads initiatives aimed at advancing equity and justice, specifically focusing on the effort to end the prison model for youth and young adults. Prior experience includes serving as Deputy Chief of Policy and Outreach at the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York from 1998 to 2005, and as a Staff Attorney at the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem from 1992 to 1996. Tanya holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University.
