Isa graduated with her BS in Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in Spring of 2022. While at UW-Madison, Isa worked on protein engineering via directed evolution in the Buller Lab. She engineered PLP dependent enzymes to improve function and develop new functions; Isa used these enzymes to make non-conical amino acids and decarboxylate them to form pharmaceutically relevant compounds. In the summer of 2022, Isa began work at Ansa as a part of the biochemistry team. She is excited to continue to work with enzymes.
