ANTELOPE VALLEY UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT
Chris Grado, Ed.D., currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the Antelope Valley Union High School District since June 2022. Prior to this role, Chris held the position of Principal at Highland High School from July 2017 to June 2022 and served as Principal at SOAR High School within the Academies of the Antelope Valley from April 2013 to June 2022. Earlier experience includes the role of Assistant Principal at the Antelope Valley Union High School District from July 2010 to April 2013. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne, a Master of Arts in English Literature from California State University, Northridge, a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from National University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Nevada, Reno.

The Antelope Valley Union High School District (AVUHSD) includes eight traditional and three alternative high schools, SOAR -- an early college high school on the Antelope Valley College campus, the no-cost, charter Academy Prep Junior High, an online education program and Antelope Valley Adult Education. The district serves 23,000 students in the cities of Palmdale and Lancaster, and the surrounding area.
