Brian Israel has worked in a variety of roles in the legal profession. In 2008, they were a Summer Associate Law Clerk for O'Melveny & Myers LLP. In 2009, they were a Legal Intern for the Office of the Legal Adviser for Human Rights and Refugees at the U.S. Department of State, and later that year they were an Attorney-Adviser for East Asia and Pacific Affairs, an Attorney-Adviser for Oceans, International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, and an Attorney-Adviser for International Claims and Investment Disputes. In 2010, they were an Adjunct Professor at George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School. In 2017, they were the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary for Planetary Resources, Inc. In 2018, they were the Co-Founder of ConsenSys Space. In 2019, they were a Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. In 2020, they were the Associate General Counsel for International Law at NASA. In 2021, they were the Founder of Domaine Labs, which offers courses and communities for attorneys practicing at the frontiers of law and technology. In 2022, they became the General Counsel for Anthropic.
Brian Israel attended Sonoma Valley High School from 2001 to 2005, where they graduated with a B.A. in International Studies - Political Science from UC San Diego. Brian then attended the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law from 2007 to 2009, where they earned a J.D.
