Samantha Bennett is an accomplished academic and professional in the field of music, currently serving as Chair of IASPM Official since September 2022 and as Associate Dean Higher Degree Research at The Australian National University (ANU) since 2013. At ANU, Bennett leads several research working groups and initiatives, including the TRaCE Transborder Arts and Humanities Graduate Research Project and the AHRC Open-Oxford-Cambridge Doctoral Training Program Conference. As a Professor of Music, Bennett has held multiple leadership roles within the College of Arts and Social Sciences and has authored various music courses. In addition to academic roles, Bennett is an Editor and Advisory Board Member for Bloomsbury Academic's 33 1/3 Series, providing editorial insights on music literature. With a strong educational background including a PhD from the University of Surrey in Popular Music Recording Techniques and a Post Graduate Certificate from IOE - UCL, Bennett holds prestigious titles of Principal Fellow and Senior Fellow at the Higher Education Academy.
