The Opportunity

We are looking for a Laboratory technician with experience in mechatronic laboratories to join our A-team of product developers and robot enthusiasts. You will work closely with our Product Development and R&D Engineers to ensure the reliability and functionality of our robots by assisting in a variety of tests across many fields, such as: core robotics, mechatronics, materials, vibrations and thermodynamics. Such tests are used by engineers to identify root causes and improve the quality and reliability of our product. As part of your mission, you will be actively responsible for the running of the tests in our laboratories, independently and in groups, and for the maintenance and correct usage of our measurement tools and infrastructures. You have a natural curiosity and enjoy all aspects of working in a laboratory, including the inspection, diagnosis and refurbishment of tested products. Effective communication is key in this role, as you will be collaborating with a diverse team of professionals. Ultimately, your day-to-day activities will include using our robots for testing purposes, as well as the lookout of our testing facilities both in-house and at external industrial facilities.

Your Contributions

  • Execute tests on robotics systems and subsystems based on our standard protocols
  • Inspection, diagnosis and refurbishment of robots and subsystems before and after testing
  • Lookout of continuous robot testing facilities, including off-site customer facilities
  • Ensuring correct laboratory way of working, helping technical staff in the use of tools and sensors
  • Maintenance and calibration of laboratory tools and infrastructure
  • Ramp up of new laboratory methodologies, tools and infrastructures

Your Profile

  • You completed technical training working in a test laboratory (e.g. Physiklaborant*in, ISO/IEC 17025 or equivalent)
  • Previous professional experience in working in mechatronics laboratories is an asset
  • Hands-on attitude with an innate curiosity for high-tech robotics systems and attention to details
  • Methodical way of working, with particular care in ensuring a good environment in the laboratories
  • Familiarity with sensors and laboratory tools, such as: accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, pressure sensors, DAQ, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.
  • Familiarity in supervising and overseeing the day to day laboratory operations
  • Familiarity with working with Linux OS
  • Excellent language skills in English, both oral and in written

Bonus Points

  • Knowledge of material behaviors, dynamic and fatigue fracture mechanics
  • Basic programming knowledge, e.g. python, C++
  • Experience in dealing with suppliers
  • German speaker
  • B driving licence
