Environmental Planning Manager at Apalachee Regional Planning Council

Josh Adams is the current Environmental Planning Manager at Apalachee Regional Planning Council. Prior to this, Josh worked as an Environmental Planner for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection from January 2014 to June 2014. In this role, Josh co-authored a management plan for Florida’s Rocky Bayou Aquatic Preserve informed by research, interviews and site visits. Josh also devised a list of priority environmental issues, updated inventory of listed species and evaluated water quality data for the Rocky Bayou Aquatic Preserve. Additionally, Josh reviewed Florida statutes in order to maintain plan's compliance with state protocol and created maps using ArcGIS to illustrate multiple variables including adjacent public lands, historical population growth, watershed boundaries, and recreational facilities near the preserve to develop policies.

From November 2017 to April 2019, Josh worked as an Engineering Specialist III/ HCP Manager for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of Habitat Conservation Plans (HCPs).

Prior to their work with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Josh worked as a GIS Analyst/Environmental Consultant for WSource from October 2014 to November 2017. In this role, they provided GIS analysis and support for a variety of environmental projects.

Josh’s first foray into the world of planning came during their time as a Student Planner for the Florida State University Florida Planning and Development Lab from August 2014 to January 2015. In this role

Josh Adams has a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University. Josh also has a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies from Florida State University.

Josh Adams reports to Chris Rietow, Executive Director. They work with Caroline Smith - Economic Development Manager, Monica Pitts - Finance Director, and Evan Blythe - Environmental Project Manager.
