Charli Penn

Charli Penn is an accomplished editor and lifestyle director with extensive experience in media, currently serving as Editor in Chief and Executive Lifestyle Director at Apartment Therapy Media since January 2022. Prior roles include Lifestyle Director at Essence Communications Inc., where Charli oversaw editorial vision for ESSENCE magazine and its digital platform, and was a founding co-host of the Webby-nominated podcast, Yes, Girl!, which focuses on the lifestyles of Black women. Charli also held several editorial positions, including Senior Editor for Relationships and Lifestyle at ESSENCE.com and Digital Commerce and Marketing Manager at Ellery Homestyles LLC. Charli possesses a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Spelman College.
