Jacinda Shelly has held a variety of roles in their professional career. Jacinda began their career as a Research Intern at NASA Johnson Space Center in 2004, where they performed planetary science research and received a Caltech signature award from the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science. In 2008, they were a Mathematics and Science Instructor at CIE Oxford, where they were responsible for designing the curriculum and lesson plan as well as teaching the concepts. That same year, they were also an LASP REU Intern at Northwest Research Associates: Colorado Research Associates Division. In 2009, they were an Associate Product Manager Intern at Google. From 2010 to 2013, they held several roles at BTS, LLC, including Vice President of Engineering and Director of R&D, Network Mobility. From 2013 to 2019, they were at Doctor On Demand, where they served as Chief Technology Officer, Chief Architect, and Lead Platform Engineer. During this time, they were responsible for changing healthcare service by building a platform to make it simple for people to have a video call with a doctor, psychologist or lactation consultant. In 2019, they became a Co-Founder and Advisor at Apero Health.

Jacinda Shelly's education history includes a MEng and Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which they obtained between 2008 and 2010. Prior to that, they studied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Oxford in 2007-2008. Jacinda also attended the United States Air Force Academy between 2005 and 2007, where they studied Astronautical Engineering with a Russian Minor. Additionally, they obtained a Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification from AAPC in August 2019.
