Nick Shelly has a wide range of work experience, beginning in 2009 when they were a Captain in the Air Force and a Software and Network Security specialist at the National Security Agency. In 2012, they were a Software Engineering Intern at Apple, followed by a similar role at Nicira (acquired by VMware) in 2013. In 2014, they joined Forward Networks, Inc. as the Member of Technical Staff and software engineer, helping to raise $30M from Andreessen, DFJ, and the founders of VMware. In 2015, they became a PhD Candidate in Computer Science at Stanford University, working on projects such as Flow caching for high-performance software forwarding and Snap.py, a Python interface for a C++ large-scale graph analysis platform. In 2018, they joined South Park Commons as a Member, and in 2019 they became the Co-founder and CEO of Apero Health.
Nick Shelly is currently enrolled in Y Combinator, having previously attended Stanford University from 2013-2015, where they were a PhD Candidate and received an M.S. in Computer Science. Prior to that, they were a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, where they received an MFE/MBA. Nick also attended the United States Air Force Academy, where they received a B.S. in Computer Science. Nick began their educational journey at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, where they received their High School Diploma in CS and German Studies.
