Peter Bandettini is an experienced professional in the field of functional MRI and neuroscience. Currently serving as the Editor in Chief at Aperture Neuro since June 2023, Peter also hosts the OHBM Neurosalience Podcast for the Organization for Human Brain Mapping. As the Director of the Functional MRI Core Facility and Chief of the Section on Functional Imaging Methods at the National Institute of Mental Health, Peter oversees advanced MRI equipment and conducts research aimed at understanding fMRI signal changes and improving data extraction methods. Peter previously held roles as Editor in Chief at NeuroImage and various editorial positions at other scientific publications, alongside academic positions at Georgetown University and Marquette University. Peter earned a Ph.D. in Biophysics with a focus on fMRI from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School – Massachusetts General Hospital.

Aperture Neuro seeks research that will enhance, innovate, and advance neuroscience. The journal publishes traditional formats (e.g., original research, reviews, editorials) as well as other research objects such as tutorials, workshops, code, processing pipelines, conference summaries, and dataset descriptions.
