Hector Peña

Hector Peña has extensive experience in the field of cybersecurity. Hector currently holds the position of Director of Information Security at Apex Fintech Solutions since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Relativity as a Senior Manager of Cyber Security from 2022 to 2023, and as a Manager of Cyber Security from 2020 to 2022. Hector also served as a Senior Cyber Security Analyst and Cyber Security Analyst at Relativity from 2018 to 2020. Before joining Relativity, they worked at Espo Systems as a Network Security Director from 2016 to 2017, and as a Network Security Engineer from 2014 to 2017. Hector started their career as an Engineering Intern at Espo Systems in 2013. Prior to that, they worked as a Retail Consultant at Sprint from 2011 to 2013, and as a Sales Consultant at Best Buy from 2010 to 2011.

Hector Peña's education history begins in 2010 when they enrolled in Moraine Valley Community College, where they pursued an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) degree in IT Security Specialist. Concurrently, they also studied Computer & LAN Tech, earning another A.A.S. degree from the same institution. In 2014, Hector obtained certifications as a Cisco Network Associate and a Network Security Associate from Moraine Valley Community College. Hector also completed the Websense Web Security 201 certification from Raytheon|Websense.

In 2014, Hector transferred to Colorado Technical University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree with a specialization in Information Technology- Network Management. After completing their bachelor's degree in 2015, Hector obtained certifications as a Network Administrator and achieved the Splunk Certified User certification from Splunk.

In 2016, Hector enrolled in DePaul University for their Master's degree in Cyber-Security, specializing in Networking and Infrastructure Concentration. During this time, they obtained the Blue Coat Certified ProxySG Professional certification from Blue Coat Systems.

Hector continued to earn additional certifications throughout their education and career. Notable certifications include becoming a Splunk Power User in 2018, obtaining the Blue Coat Certified ProxySG Administrator certification in 2016, obtaining the Network+ certification from CompTIA in 2013, and earning the CCNA certification from Cisco in 2014.

In 2020, Hector earned the GIAC Defending Advanced Threats (GDAT) certification from GIAC Certifications, and in 2018, they earned the GIAC Network Forensic Analyst (GNFA) certification from the same institution.
