Sophia Papadopoulou

Sophia Papadopoulou is an accomplished academic and sports professional with extensive experience in volleyball and gender equality advocacy. As a professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since August 2003, Sophia has held various academic positions, including lecturer and associate professor. In addition to academic pursuits, Sophia serves as a member of the European Coaches Commission (ECOC) with the European Volleyball Confederation since September 2017, focusing on modernizing volleyball governance in Europe. As the founder and head coach of Volleyball Sports Club "A.P.O. PANORAMA" since August 2009, Sophia has actively contributed to sports development. Sophia's commitment to gender equality is evident through prior roles such as the chair of the Gender & Equality Committee at AUTH, president of the Hellenic Association for the Advancement of Women in Sports, and serving on the technical committee of the Hellenic Volleyball Federation. Sophia also contributes to academic research as the chief editor of the scientific journal "WOMAN & SPORTS."
