Janiene Bohannon

Janiene Bohannon is an experienced communications professional currently serving as the Division Director for Communications at the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) since April 2021, overseeing public outreach efforts. Prior to ARC, Janiene held the position of Senior Communications Manager in Health at ICF Next from October 2016 to April 2021, leading health communication initiatives and campaign development. Janiene's career also includes significant roles at the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) from February 2009 to October 2016, where responsibilities ranged from directing communications to overseeing publication cycles. Earlier experience includes a role as a Public Relations and Marketing Specialist at Children's National Medical Center. Janiene Bohannon holds a Master of Science in Health Communication from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, Public Relations from Ohio University. Numerous awards highlight Janiene's work, particularly for campaigns associated with the CDC in 2018.
