VP Engineering at Appcues

Chris Brookins has an extensive work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Chris currently serves as the VP Engineering at Appcues since July 2022, where they are responsible for delivering tools to empower non-technical customers. Prior to this, from July 2019 to July 2022, Chris held the role of VP Engineering and Product at Appcues, overseeing the growth of the business by providing in-app experiences to enhance product adoption and engagement.

In addition to their role at Appcues, Chris also works as a Venture Partner at Companyon Ventures since May 2022, where they use their expertise to support and invest in promising ventures.

Previously, Chris worked as the Chief Technology Officer at Prette from August 2021, focusing on developing a marketplace for sewists to find the perfect materials for their garments.

Chris served as an Advisory Board Member at Rekener ( A Brainshark Company ) from November 2016 to December 2019, where they contributed to scaling recurring revenue and improving customer engagement by breaking down organizational and data silos.

Earlier, Chris held leadership positions at Help Scout as the Chief Product Officer and VP Engineering from January 2018 to May 2019, and as the VP Engineering from June 2015 to December 2017. Chris led distributed product and engineering teams to provide customer service tools to businesses worldwide.

Chris also had significant experience at Acquia, where they served as the SVP Engineering from April 2014 to June 2015, responsible for building and scaling Acquia's SaaS and PaaS products. Chris also held the position of VP Engineering and Product Management from August 2008 to April 2014 and played a key role in designing and building Acquia's services.

Prior to these roles, they worked as a Mentor at TechStars from September 2012 to May 2015, providing guidance to early-stage startups. Chris also served as the Senior VP of Development at Vertical Communications, Inc. from October 2004 to July 2008, leading the transition to a Scrum/Agile process and overseeing the development of TeleVantage IP PBX and Wave ViewPoint.

Before Vertical Communications, Inc., Chris held the role of CTO and VP of Development at Artisoft, Inc. from February 1996 to September 2004, and as the VP of Development at Stylus Innovation from March 1993 to February 1996.

Throughout their career, Chris has demonstrated expertise in engineering, product management, and leadership roles, contributing to the growth and success of various companies in the technology industry.

Chris Brookins attended Lehigh University from 1983 to 1987, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science.
