Graham Brown

Senior Operating Partner at Appian Capital Advisory

Graham Brown is a Senior Operating Partner at Appian Capital Advisory. Prior to this, they were Group Head of Exploration at Anglo American from June 2005 to December 2009, where they led and managed global greenfield and brownfield exploration activities. Graham was also Senior Vice President Exploration at Anglo American from January 2003 to May 2005, where they led and managed global technical services and research and development programs. From August 1999 to December 2002, they served as Vice President Geology at Anglo American, where they were Chief Geologist and technical consultant to global project reviews and acquisitions. Prior to that, they served as Vice President Exploration at Minorco from January 1998 to August 1999, where they led and managed Europe-Asia region exploration activities. Graham also served as Chief Geologist at Minorco from January 1994 to December 1997. From 1985 to 1994, they worked as a Consulting Geologist. Graham began their career as an Exploration Geologist at Amax from September 1980 to December 1984.

After completing a master's degree in exploration and mining geology from James Cook University, Graham Brown went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in applied geology from the University of Strathclyde. Graham is also certified by the European Federation of Geologists as a European Geologist and by the Geological Society of London as a Chartered Geologist. In addition, they have completed certification programs in business leaders and senior executives from Duke Corporate Education and Columbia Business School, respectively.
