Lu Jiang is a Principal Research Scientist at Apple since August 2025, focusing on visual generation foundations for Apple products. Previously, Lu served as Research Director at ByteDance from January 2024 to June 2025, leading the R&D of the Seaweed video generation model, which achieved a top-tier global ranking in video generation. Lu has experience as an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science, supervising graduate research and teaching. Prior roles include Staff Research Scientist and TLM at Google, where Lu led significant projects in image and video generation, and a history of impactful work across various companies including Microsoft, Yahoo, and the National Science Foundation. Lu holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Carnegie Mellon University and has an extensive background in computer science, including a Master’s degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University.
