Oncel Tuzel

Oncel Tuzel is a distinguished engineer with extensive experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence, currently working at Apple since May 2016, where notable roles include Principal Researcher & Manager and leading authoring of the company’s first deep learning paper. Prior to Apple, Oncel served as Senior Principal Research Scientist at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, focusing on vision-based 3D pose estimation for industrial automation. Early career experiences include research assistant roles at the Center for Advanced Information Processing and MERL, and software development leadership at Mobilsoft and Aydin Yazilim. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Machine Learning and Computer Vision from Rutgers University, an MS in Computer Engineering, and a BS in Computer Engineering, both from Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi.
