Sherman Luo

Engineering at Applied Intuition

Sherman Luo started their work experience in 2017 as the Director of Web Development at Upsilon Pi Epsilon: Nu Chapter, where they coordinated and directed a committee in developing their website using Django/Python. In 2018, they worked as a Software Engineer at ServiceNow for a few months before becoming a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. At Berkeley, they conducted research under Professor Anca Dragan in the Berkeley AI Research (BAIR) InterACT Lab, focusing on game-theoretic planners for dynamic games in self-driving simulation. Sherman also served as a Student Instructor for CS70 and CS188, running sections, office hours, and grading exams and homework. In 2019, they briefly worked as a Research Engineer at Facebook. Then, in 2020, Sherman joined Meta Reality Labs as a Software Engineer, where they worked on productizing computer vision and machine learning-based perception capabilities for Meta's AR/VR camera SDK. Sherman consistently received the highest rating and earned two consecutive "Redefined Expectations" at Meta. Currently, Sherman is working as an engineer at Applied Intuition since 2022.

Sherman Luo's education history begins in 2012 when they attended Evergreen Valley High School, where they completed their high school education from 2012 to 2016. Following this, they enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley in 2016 and pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, graduating in 2019. Continuing their education at the same institution, Sherman completed a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley between 2019 and 2020.
