Matthew Thompson

Project Manager at Applied Invention

Matthew Thompson has worked in a variety of roles since 1994. Matthew began their career as a Research Assistant at the Carnegie Institution, followed by a CORE Fellow at Harvard University in 2002. In 2003, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Kentucky and in 2005 they became an Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Maryland. From 2009 to 2014, they were a Project Leader at The Boston Consulting Group. From 2014 to 2017, they were a Senior Product Manager at Blue River Technology, responsible for the commercial development of an agricultural/farm implement for use in crop phenotyping. Since 2016, they have been self-employed as an Independent Writer, researching and writing a book on cultural evolution.

Matthew Thompson obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Stanford University between 1990 and 1994. Matthew then went on to pursue a PhD in Plant Physiology and Computational Fluid Dynamics at Harvard University, which they completed in 2002.
