Jim Merrill has had a long and distinguished career, beginning in 1968 when they served in the US Navy as a Personnel Specialist (PN). After their service, they worked as a Public Information Manager for Missouri Public Service Company from 1973 to 1980. Jim then moved on to Indiana University, where they worked as an Assistant Professor of Marketing from 1980 to 1986. In 1986, they took a position as Research Manager at Valentine Radford Advertising. In 1988, they became Principal at Interro, Inc. (now Decision Insight), a full-service marketing research firm located in Kansas City. From 1991 to 1993, they worked as Visiting Professor of Marketing at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. From 1993 to 2014, they held the roles of President Emeritus & Chief Scientist and Principal/President at Applied Marketing Research, Inc. Jim has also held the role of Board of Directors for After the Harvest, Inc. since 2014.
Jim Merrill attended The University of Kansas from 1964 to 1972, graduating with a B.S. in Journalism. Jim then attended the University of Kansas Graduate School of Journalism from 1975 to 1976, earning an M.S. in Journalism. Finally, they attended the University of Kansas Graduate School of Business from 1976 to 1980, where they earned a Ph.D. in Marketing and Psychology.
