VP Of Engineering at Applied Materials

Brian J. Brown has a strong background in technology and engineering, with extensive experience in the semiconductor industry. Brian J. started their career at Hewlett-Packard as a Manufacturing Engineer in 1989. Brian J. then moved on to Intel, where they worked as a Sr. Process Engineer, responsible for the development of various processing technologies for microprocessors. In 1997, they joined Applied Materials as the Director of Engineering and Technology, where they played a key role in the development and introduction of single wafer wet clean and integrated strip & clean systems. Brian J. later joined Novellus Systems as the Sr. Director of Technology, overseeing process technology, applications development, and field support for the CMP Business Unit. In 2009, they joined Alta Devices as a Director, leading process and tool development for MOCVD epitaxy technology. Currently, they hold the position of VP of Engineering at Applied Materials, where they manage a multi-national team to develop new technology, drive continuous improvement programs, and provide customer support for the CMP Product Business Unit. Brian J. also travels globally to address technical issues, drive sales, and market new products.

Brian J. Brown earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Oberlin College in 1985. Brian J. later obtained their PhD in Materials Science & Engineering from Stanford University in 1989. In 2020, they completed the Engineering Leadership Professional Program at the University of California, Berkeley.
