Kannan Perumal

Kannan Perumal has over 18 years of experience in the information security field. Kannan currently holds the position of Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Applied Materials since December 2020. Throughout their career at Applied Materials, Kannan has held various roles of increasing responsibility, including Managing Director, Senior Director, Director, and Senior Manager. Kannan has consistently demonstrated success and achievement in enhancing security awareness, creating security strategies aligned with corporate strategy, managing audits, and implementing security controls. Prior to joining Applied Materials, Kannan worked as an Information Technology Consultant at Taos and Mastech Inc. from 1997 to 2002, and as a Customer Engineer at CMC Ltd. from 1993 to 1997.

Kannan Perumal completed their Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering between 1989 and 1993. Kannan has also obtained additional certifications, including "Vulnerability Management: Assessing the Risks with CVSS v3.1" from LinkedIn in 2022, "Learning the OWASP Top 10" from LinkedIn in 2020, and a CISSP certification (expired in 2020) from (ISC)2.
