Matt Balun

Matt Balun is a Senior In-house Legal Counsel and the Head of Product Counsel and Technology Transactions at Applied Materials. Previously, they worked as an IP Attorney at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP from 2011 to 2015, focusing on patent prosecution and counseling in the Software, Electronics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences groups. They also gained experience as a Judicial Extern to Judge Charles R. Breyer at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in 2009. Matt is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor in Intellectual Property Law at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and holds a Bachelor of Science with double majors in Materials Science & Engineering and Nuclear Engineering from UC Berkeley College of Engineering.
