Nicholas Brunstad

Nicholas Brunstad is a skilled engineer currently serving as a Staff Engineer 2 at ARA since June 2021, focusing on the development of the high-velocity impact model FATEPEN and enhancing its accuracy through complex material interactions. Nicholas previously held roles as a Staff Engineer 1 and Technical Intern at ARA, where significant contributions included developing material models and building a data acquisition system. Prior experience includes working as a Research Associate at X-STRM Lab, studying dynamic fracture properties in 3D-printed materials, and serving as a Student Shop Instructor at the University of Wisconsin, where instruction centered on safe machining practices. Nicholas holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Systems Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
