Stephan Marais

Stephan Marais has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and security. Stephan is currently employed as an OT Security Consultant at Applied Risk, where they started in April 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Control System Engineer at Vekoma Rides from an unspecified start date in 2020 until April 2022. From 2018 to 2020, they were a Systems Integration Engineer at Qmetrics. Before that, Stephan worked as an R&D Engineer at MidCity Utilities from March 2016 to August 2017, where they led teams for the development of a smart prepaid metering system. Stephan also gained experience as an Energy Project Engineer at EOH (Energy Insight) from January 2014 to December 2015, where they designed and implemented energy management systems.

Stephan Marais has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Cyber Security from the University of Johannesburg. Before that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from North-West University / Noordwes-Universiteit. In 2016, they completed a solar energy postgraduate program at Stellenbosch University. In terms of additional certifications, Stephan has obtained the following: the GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) certification from GIAC Certifications in September 2022, the ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Fundamentals Specialist certification from the International Society of Automation (ISA) in July 2021, and the CompTIA Security+ certification from CompTIA in June 2020.
