Hector Smethurst

Hector Smethurst is the CEO and founder of Appt Health. Hector has also worked as a sales lead for DrDoctor, a company that puts patients in control of their healthcare while maximizing valuable NHS resources.

Smethurst first met the DrDoctor team not long after starting Appt. A colleague recommended that they get in touch with them, and they did so by sending a message through the form on their website. One of the founders, Tom, quickly replied and invited Smethurst in for a cup of tea and a chat. After hearing about Smethurst's idea, the team at DrDoctor offered him free office space to work on it.

Smethurst spent just over two years working closely with the DrDoctor team, and they learned a lot about being innovative in the health service. The best thing about DrDoctor, according to Smethurst, was always the people. They were some of the friendliest people in the industry, and they learned a lot from them.

Hector Smethurst completed an Executive Education Programme at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the field of Purpose and Profit: The Essentials of Social Business. Hector also holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Bath.
