Jan Benecke has a diverse work experience in the field of water resources and technology development. Jan is currently the Head of Commercial Engineering Reverse Osmosis at Aquaporin A/S since January 2022. Prior to this, they held various roles at the company, including Head of Reverse Osmosis Technology Development and Team Leader for RO Systems Integration.
Before joining Aquaporin A/S, Jan worked as an R&D Engineer at Deutscher Verein des Gas- und Wasserfaches (DVGW) Research Centre TUHH in 2017. Jan also served as a Research Fellow and Teaching Assistant at Hamburg University of Technology from 2012 to 2017, where they specialized in membrane technology and water resources management.
Earlier in their career, Jan gained research experience as a Student Research Fellow at Technische Universität Berlin from 2008 to 2012 and as a Research Scholar at Colorado School of Mines in 2011. Jan also interned at the University of Waterloo in 2010 and worked as a Student Research Fellow at the University of Bremen in 2007.
Jan started their career as a Paramedic Assistant at Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Rettungsdienst in 2004. Jan also worked as a Student Research Fellow at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft from 2003 to 2004.
Jan Benecke began their education at the P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School at the University of Florida, where they studied from 2001 to 2002. Jan then went on to attend Technische Universität Berlin from 2005 to 2012, earning a Diploma of Engineering (Dipl.-Ing. / M.Sc.) in Environmental Science and Technology. Jan furthered their education at Hamburg University of Technology, where they obtained a Doctor of Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) degree between 2012 and 2018.
