Aquaya
Irene Atieno is a skilled professional with extensive experience in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) data analysis and health research. Currently serving as a Program Associate at Aquaya since October 2021, Irene has held various roles including Senior Program Assistant and WASH Data Consultant, focusing on identifying and enhancing analytical methods for WASH data. Previous experience includes volunteering at Kenya Red Cross and serving as a Research Assistant in multiple health-related studies, including baseline surveys on early and unintended pregnancies. Irene's early career included internships and attachments at Kenya Red Cross and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where practical skills in community health and data collection were developed. Irene holds a Bachelor of Science in Population Health from Kenyatta University.

Founded in 2005 by two PhD scientists, Aquaya’s goal is to bridge the divide between academic research and field implementation of measures that expand access to safe drinking water.
