Sergey Safonov

Sergey Safonov is an accomplished Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Research Program Director at Aramco since August 2019, leading a team of research data scientists in the Moscow Research Center. With extensive experience at Schlumberger from 2004 to 2019, Sergey held various roles including System Engineering Advisor and multiple research director positions, managing global research departments focusing on fluid mechanics, reservoir potential, and reservoir physics. Sergey demonstrated expertise in developing automated decision-making systems and identifying disruptive innovations, while overseeing significant research teams and driving technological advancements in the oil and gas sector. Sergey holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Exeter and an MSc in Physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
