Jasmine Putney has a diverse work experience in the field of media and communications. Jasmine started their career as an Arts and Entertainment Reporter at The Daily Iowan, where they covered various cultural events and contributed to social media updates. Jasmine then worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Iowa, where they helped guide students through a journalism course and implemented strategies to foster their development as independent learners. During their time at the University of Iowa, they also worked as a Strategic Communications Video Producer, where they filmed, edited, and wrote briefs for short-form video content.

Jasmine then joined News21 as an Investigative Reporting Fellow, where they supervised a team of reporters and co-wrote and published an investigative piece. In this role, they collected and organized hate crime data and analyzed court documents.

After that, Jasmine worked at Hearst Television as an Investigative Producer, where they created a platform for discussion with community leaders and wrote investigative stories based on public records research. Jasmine also served as a 10 p.m. News Producer at Hearst Television, overseeing the development of stories for multiple teams, researching news topics, and collaborating with the marketing team on promoting nightly stories.

Currently, Jasmine is the Public Relations and Media Manager at the Arbor Day Foundation, where they utilize their skills and experiences in managing public relations and media.

Jasmine Putney's education history begins in 2014 when they enrolled at the University of Iowa. Jasmine pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree and studied Journalism/Mass Communication during their time there. Additionally, they also completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinematic Arts at the same institution. Jasmine completed their studies in both fields in 2018.
