Michelle Simmons

Michelle Simmons is a prominent figure in the field of quantum physics, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Founder & Director of Silicon Quantum Computing Pty. Ltd. since 2017. In addition, Michelle has held the position of Director at the ARC Centre for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology since 2011 and is a Scientia Professor at UNSW since 2004. Michelle has also previously served as Editor In Chief for the Nature Partner Journal: Quantum Information from 2014 to 2021. Recognized for contributions to science, Michelle was named Australian of the Year by the National Australia Day Council for the year 2018-2019 and has been awarded multiple prestigious fellowships by the Australian Research Council throughout a successful career spanning several decades. Education includes a Doctor of Philosophy from Durham University and extensive research experience as a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge.
