Arc Institute
Jesse Holt, PhD, is an accomplished scientist currently serving as an Image-Based Screening Scientist at Arc Institute since June 2023. With a robust background in biophysics, Jesse's expertise encompasses the development and optimization of image-based high-throughput screening assays and advanced microscopy techniques to explore the genetic underpinnings of complex diseases. Previously, at UC Irvine School of Medicine from September 2016 to December 2022, Jesse worked as a Bioengineer and HHMI Gilliam Fellow, focusing on biophysical techniques related to mechanotransduction in live cells. Other roles include Research Technologist at Gladstone Institutes, Research Associate and Lab Manager at UC San Diego, and various roles during undergraduate studies. Jesse holds a PhD in Biophysics from UC Irvine and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Cognitive Science from UC San Diego.

Arc Institute is a new scientific institution that conducts curiosity-driven basic science and technology development. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, Arc is a non-profit organization founded on the belief that many important research programs will be enabled by new academic models. Arc operates in partnership with Stanford University, UCSF, and UC Berkeley. As individuals, Arc researchers collaborate across diverse disciplines to study complex diseases, including cancer, neurodegeneration, and immune dysfunction. As an organization, Arc strives to enable long-term research agendas by betting on people rather than projects, and making it easier to invent and deploy new technologies at scale. Together, our mission is to accelerate scientific progress, understand the root causes of disease, and narrow the gap between discoveries and impact on patients.
