Kristen Seim is an accomplished molecular engineer currently serving as the Associate Director of Molecular Engineering at Arc Institute since May 2024. Prior to this role, Kristen held the position of Associate Principal Scientist at Graphite Bio from September 2020 to August 2023, leading a team in the development of protein-based additives to enhance homology directed repair outcomes in ex vivo gene editing for sickle-cell correction. Earlier experience includes serving as Senior Scientist and Scientist III at Antheia, Inc., where Kristen led directed evolution projects to improve alkaloid production, and as Scientist II at Theranos, focusing on developing a novel enzymatic assay for blood analysis. Kristen also gained research experience as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Harvard University under Professor Emily Balskus, and earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, following a BS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Cornell University.
