Emma Baz is a skilled engineer focused on decarbonization and renewable energy, currently serving as a Decarbonization Scouting Engineer at ArcelorMittal's XCarb Innovation Fund since October 2022. Previously, as a Team Leader and Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Expert for UNIDO, Emma developed sustainable energy projects for the Green Climate Funds and Global Environment Facility, contributing to regional energy initiatives. Emma's prior experience includes roles as a Geothermal Energy Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank, where technical support and strategic guidance were provided for geothermal projects in Latin America and the Caribbean, and as Director of Engineering at Reykjavik Geothermal, overseeing project development in East Africa and Latin America. Additionally, Emma has technical expertise from SAP, where focus was placed on artificial intelligence and integration processes. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Sciences from the University of Iceland and degrees in Computer Sciences Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering from Universidad Francisco de Vitoria.
