Dr. G. Wije Wathugala has extensive work experience, beginning in 1980 as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Peradeniya. Dr. G. Wije then worked as a Research/Teaching Assistant at the University of Waterloo from 1982 to 1984. From 1984 to 1992, they held various roles at the University of Arizona, including Computer Consultant and Senior Support Systems Analyst, as well as Research/Teaching Associate. Moving on, they served as an Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University from 1992 to 1999. Dr. G. Wije then worked as a Senior Engineer at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development from 1999 to 2001. Following this, they joined ACTA Inc. as a Project Manager from 2001 to 2011. From 2012 onwards, they took up the role of Program Manager, Research and Development at ACTA. Currently, they are working as the Program Manager for R&D in the ARCTOS Risk and Safety Division, starting in 2020.
Dr. G. Wije Wathugala has an extensive education history in civil engineering. Their educational journey began in 1970 at Ananda College. Dr. G. Wije then attended the University of Peradeniya from 1976 to 1980, where they earned a B.Sc. Eng. degree in Civil Engineering.
Seeking further academic excellence, Dr. Wathugala pursued a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.) degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Dr. G. Wije attended this institution from 1982 to 1984.
Their educational accomplishments culminated with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona. This degree was obtained between 1984 and 1990.
In addition to their formal education, Dr. Wathugala has also obtained certifications in their field. Dr. G. Wije is a Professional Engineer (Civil Engineering) certified by both the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board and the Board For Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in California.
