Igor Smolenov has a diverse and extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Igor is currently the Chief Development Officer (CDO) at Arcturus Therapeutics, a position they have held since April 2023.
Before joining Arcturus Therapeutics, Igor worked at Clover Biopharmaceuticals as the Executive Vice President of Global Clinical Development from September 2020 to April 2023.
Prior to Clover Biopharmaceuticals, they held the position of Therapeutic Area Head, Research and Sciences at Seqirus from June 2018 to August 2020. In this role, they led a team responsible for four clinical development programs for influenza vaccines and achieved significant milestones such as the licensure of a cell-based influenza vaccine in the EU.
From November 2016 to May 2018, Igor was the Head of Clinical Development, Infectious Diseases at Moderna Therapeutics Inc. Before that, they worked as a Senior Medical Officer at PATH from January 2016 to November 2016.
Igor's earlier experience includes roles at Novartis Vaccines, where they served as a Cluster Head for combined meningococcal vaccines from February 2013 to December 2015. Igor also held the position of Clinical Program Development Lead at Novartis Vaccines from August 2011 to February 2013.
At GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, Igor worked in various roles from 2003 to 2011. Igor was a Senior Manager in Global Clinical R&D from November 2006 to July 2011 and played a significant role in the development and licensure of a rotavirus vaccine.
Before joining GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, Igor worked as a Country Medical Adviser for vaccines from September 2003 to September 2006, where they were involved in the initiation of international pediatric clinical studies in Russia.
Earlier in their career, Igor held academic positions at Volgograd State Medical University, where they served as the Head of the Allergology/Immunology department and later as an Associate Professor/Professor of the Clinical Pharmacology department.
Throughout their career, Igor Smolenov has demonstrated a strong background in clinical development, regulatory strategy, and leadership in the pharmaceutical industry.
Igor Smolenov completed their Doctor of Science degree in Clinical Pharmacology, specializing in Allergy and Immunology, from Volgograd State Medical University in 1999.
