Daniel Owens has extensive work experience in the cybersecurity field. Daniel is currently employed as a Principal Cybersecurity Professional at Coalfire since 2022. Prior to their current role, they worked at ARES Corporation and held the position of Lead Cybersecurity Professional from October 2022 to present, as well as from March 2012 to September 2022. Before that, Daniel worked as a Private Investigator at Friedrick and Associates starting from March 2012 onwards.
In addition to their cybersecurity roles, Daniel also worked as an IT Professional at the Global Diaspora Confederation from August 2021 to February 2022. Daniel was also employed by SystemSecurities as a CISO/Lead Security Consultant from May 2000 to May 2019.
Daniel has held various other positions throughout their career, including Chief Technology Officer/Chief Information Officer at Alphaport, Inc. from October 2010 to January 2012, and Information System Specialist at the same company from April 2010 to October 2010. Prior to that, they worked as an IT Security Specialist at Wyle from December 2008 to October 2010, and as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton from June 2007 to December 2008. Daniel started their career as a Research Assistant at Colorado State University in May 2006.
Daniel Owens completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from Colorado State University, from 2003 to 2007. Daniel then pursued a Master of Computer Science (MCS) degree in Computer Science from the same institution, from 2008 to 2010. In addition to their degrees, Daniel obtained various certifications throughout their career. Daniel became an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in July 2018 and renewed the certification in October 2021. Daniel also earned a Computer Systems and Security Certificate from Colorado State University in May 2010. Furthermore, Daniel obtained the Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional certification from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium in April 2009 and the Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification in February 2008. Daniel acquired the Host-Based Security System Administrator certification from McAfee in November 2007. Prior to that, Daniel obtained the GIAC Computer and Network Security Awareness certification and the Stay Sharp: Defeating Rogue Access Points certification from the SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security Institute in September 2007. Lastly, they achieved the Cisco Certified Network Associate 2 certification in May 2003 and the Cisco Certified Network Associate 1 certification in December 2002, both from Cisco Systems.
