Barney Smythe

Barney Smythe has extensive experience in the insurance and underwriting sector, currently serving as Deputy Active Underwriter and Divisional Head of Specialty at ARGENTA SYNDICATE MANAGEMENT LIMITED since October 2009. Previous roles at the same company included Unit Head for Power & Utilities and Deputy Underwriter for Power & Utilities. Prior to ARGENTA, Barney worked as a Divisional Director at Willis from August 2005 to September 2009 and served as a Captain in the 1st Battalion Irish Guards from September 1999 to July 2005. Barney holds a BA (Hons) in French and German from the University of Bristol, completed in 1999, and attended Eton College from 1990 to 1995.
