Melissa De Swaef has a comprehensive and varied work experience in the field of clinical research and consulting. Melissa started their career as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) at Denys Research Consultants in 2002, where they worked until 2005. Melissa then joined Harrison Clinical Research as a CRA from 2005 to 2006. At Harrison Clinical Research Benelux, they served as a Project Manager from 2007 to 2010 and later became a CRA Line Manager from 2010 to 2011. Melissa then worked as an EU Countries Study Management Associate (CSM) Neuroscience at Eli Lilly (Harrison Clinical Research Consultant) from 2011 to 2013.

Their career progression continued at Eli Lilly and Company, where they started as an EU Countries Study Management Associate (CSM) Neuroscience/Cardiovascular from 2013 to 2014. Melissa then became the Global Site Activation Process Owner and Consultant from 2014 to 2018.

In 2018, Melissa joined Veeva Systems as a Senior Professional Services Consultant, specializing in Vault Clinical (eTMF, SSU, CTMS) until 2019. Melissa is currently working at argenx, first as a Clinical Study Manager from 2019 to 2020, and then progressing to the role of Lead Trial Operations Processes and Systems, starting in September 2020.

Melissa De Swaef obtained their Master's degree in Bio-ingenieur Milieutechnologie from Ghent University, from the years 1996 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed their Middelbaar onderwijs (secondary education) at DVM, Aalst, from 1991 to 1996, with a focus on Wiskunde (8u) - Wetenschappen (Mathematics and Sciences).
