Khagesh Kumar

Khagesh Kumar is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Argonne National Laboratory since September 2023, following a position as a Graduate Researcher in the Chemistry Department at the University of Illinois Chicago from August 2018 to August 2023 under the supervision of Dr. Jordi Cabana. Research efforts have focused on the spectroscopic characterization of electrocatalysts for CO2 reduction, utilizing X-ray absorption spectroscopy to analyze electronic and chemical structure changes during catalytic processes. Additionally, Khagesh has experience as a Proposal/Grant Writer, successfully writing proposals that secured $328,000 worth of experimental time and contributing to funding applications for NSF and DOE. Teaching responsibilities have included serving as a Chemistry Teaching Assistant, overseeing general chemistry lab classes and mentoring new students. Khagesh holds a PhD from the University of Illinois Chicago (2018-2023) and an Integrated Master of Science in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2013-2018).
