Brian Markus, MBA, CISSP

Brian Markus, MBA, CISSP has over 20 years of experience in the field of security. Brian began their career in 1997 as an Operations Manager and Sr. Operations Manager for the Riverside County Office of Education. In 2005, they became a Consultant and Owner. From 2006 to 2012, they worked for Raytheon Company as a Sr. IT Security & Business Continuity Specialist. During this time, they provided senior-level information security guidance and ensured compliance with Global Security Services and Enterprise Security Services requirements, corporate IT security policies, and industry standards. Brian also performed threat and risk assessments. From 2012 to 2014, they worked for Raytheon as a Sr. Manager, Framework Services / Cyber Professional and Sr. Manager, Network & Infrastructure Operations / Cyber Professional. During this time, they directed all unclassified IT operations for the Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) division, including end user services, hosting services, and print and collaboration, plus unclassified and classified networking, voice, VTC, IT facilities, data center operations, and infrastructure services nationwide. Brian administered a $50M budget and supervised 22 direct and outsourced reports. In 2014, they became the Sr. Director Cyber Security, Compliance & Controls at Aerojet Rocketdyne. During this time, they oversaw all cyber security, compliance, and business continuity operations for the largest producer of solid and liquid rocket propulsion systems. Brian also directed legal eDiscovery, SOX, GRC, threat management, and HR investigations, and administered a $4M budget. In 2015, they became a California Cyber Security Task Force Member, an advisory organization to State of California Senior Administration Officials in regard to cyber security. Brian also became a Co-Founder of Aerial Assault, LLC. In 2008, they Co-Founded and became the CEO of Aries Security, LLC., a company dedicated to security research, education and awareness worldwide. Brian also served as an Adjunct Faculty at DeVry University from 2001 to 2015, where they instructed UNIX / Linux, System and Network Security, C, Shell Programming, CCNA Prep.

Brian Markus, MBA, CISSP has a varied educational background. Brian obtained a Masters of Business Administration/Technical Management from University of Phoenix in 2004 and a Bachelor of Science in CIS from DeVry Institute of Technology in 1997. Brian also holds certifications from various organizations, including the National Security Agency, EXIN, Raytheon, (ISC)², Federal Communications Commission, and National Association of Communication Contractors. These certifications include IAM - InfoSec Assurance Methodology (2009), ITIL v3 Certified - Foundation certification IT - Service Management (2008), R6s Specialist Certified - Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist (2006), ITIL v2 Certified - Foundation certification IT - Service Management (2004), CISSP (2007), Element 2 Technician Class Radio Operator (2013), and Fiber Optic Certified (1998).
