Emily Ryou

Emily Ryou has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Emily is currently working as an Adjunct Instructor at Columbia College Chicago since 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Design Research at Arity from 2021, where they also held the positions of Design Research Manager, Associate Design Research Manager, and Senior UX Researcher. Before joining Arity, they worked as a UX Researcher at Solstice from 2014 to 2016. Additionally, Emily has experience as an Academic HCI Researcher at DePaul University in 2014 and as a User Research Intern at SurveyMonkey in the same year. Emily also worked as a User Experience Designer at TandemSeven for a brief period in 2013. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Art Educator at Chicago Public School from 2006 to 2010.

Emily Ryou holds a Masters of Science degree in Human-Computer Interaction from DePaul University. Prior to that, they received a Bachelors degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with a focus on Fine Art and an emphasis in Art Education and Figure Painting. Additionally, Emily has obtained certifications in the Lego Serious Play Methodology from the Association of Master Trainers in 2023, as well as certifications in Human-Centered Design from LUMA Institute in 2020 and 2018.
