Karen Barno

Karen Barno is an accomplished leader in senior housing advocacy and professional development, currently serving as the President and Founder of the Arizona Assisted Living Federation of America (Arizona ALFA) since July 1997, significantly influencing the senior housing landscape in Arizona. In addition to founding Arizona ALFA, Karen Barno is the Executive Director of the Arizona Senior Housing Institute, where innovative caregiver training programs were developed. Since 2017, Karen Barno has also coached women through "Find Your Blue Rose" and "Karen Leads Confidently." Previous roles include serving as an Expert Witness Consultant, a Gerontology Instructor at Phoenix College, and establishing the New Mexico Assisted Living Federation of America. Karen Barno holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and has a background as a Medical Service Specialist in the United States Air Force.

Arizona ALFA – The Voice of Assisted Living Arizona ALFA is a Arizona based nonprofit that provides education, information and advocacy for assisted living communities within Arizona. www.azalfa.org It has more than 300 members, of which seventy percent are members of Arizona ALFA assisted living centers and professional managed assisted living homes. The organization answers regulatory questions and provide assistance, education and training to meet state required training mandate, making it easier for its members to conduct business.
