VP, Clinical Strategy & Population Health at Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield

Joanna Thomas, M.D. serves as Vice President of Clinical Strategy and Population Health. She leads efforts for statewide and national integrated care management. Dr. Thomas joined Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 2011 as regional medical director for the Northwest Region and has been instrumental in implementing a custom care management model for some of Arkansas Blue Cross’ large group customers. Dr. Thomas earned her medical degree at the University of Liverpool School of Medicine in England, U.K. She completed her family medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Fayetteville. She is board certified in family medicine and is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. As an associate professor at UAMS Northwest in Fayetteville, she was an award-winning teacher and named three times as a “Best Doctor in America” by peers.
