Tamela Horton

Tamela Horton, Ph.D., currently serves as the Executive Director of Transformational Learning at Arlington ISD, a position held since August 2017, where responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of college and career programs and innovative campus initiatives for student preparedness. Prior roles within Arlington ISD include Senior Director of Transformational Learning from 2015 to 2017, focusing on rigorous learning experiences. Experience also includes serving as the Executive Director of School Improvement and Principal at Lancaster ISD, Principal at Dallas ISD, Assistant Principal at Duncanville ISD, and High School Math Teacher at Longview and Tatum ISD. Tamela Horton holds a Ph.D. in K-16 Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of Texas at Arlington, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the same institution.
