Mark Abela currently serves as Deputy Editor for the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology and Senior Lecturer at the Cardiovascular and Genomics Research Institute at St George's University. As a Preventive Cardiologist at Mater Dei Hospital in Malta, Mark specializes in Sports Cardiology and Inherited Cardiac Conditions, taking on the role of clinical lead in areas such as sports cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation. Mark is also actively involved with the European Society of Cardiology as a Young Ambassador for Preventive Cardiology and holds various positions as a sports cardiologist for organizations including the Malta Olympic Committee and the Malta Football Association. Mark's academic background includes several Master's degrees in Internal Medicine and Sports Cardiology, as well as an MD from the University of Malta and MRCP certification.
