Paul Legaard is a registered patent attorney who concentrates his practice on all aspects of intellectual property. His practice includes intellectual property matters for Fortune 500 companies, midsize pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, startup companies and venture capital groups, as well as for nonprofit companies, academic institutions and research institutes.
Paul’s practice spans a wide range of technologies and industries including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, genetics, vaccines, immunobiology, small molecule chemistry, polymer chemistry, oligonucleotide chemistry, nutraceutical, nanotechnology, biomedical device, scientific instrumentation, and food and beverage.
Working with clients internationally, Paul has provided guidance throughout the entire life cycle of intellectual property assets. He often counsels clients on transactional matters including licensing agreements, collaboration agreements, confidentiality agreements and material transfer agreements. He also supports patent preparation and prosecution, including foreign filing strategy, trade secret protection and portfolio analysis. Further, Paul is active in IP litigation and post-grant proceedings including reexamination and appeals before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
