Alexandra Gehring

Associate Director, RNA Biology at Arrakis Therapeutics

Alexandra Gehring has worked for a variety of companies since 2008. Alexandra began their career as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Butler University, where they optimized and employed a fluorescent, high-throughput assay to monitor enzyme kinetics, and was a recipient of a summer research fellowship and travel awards. Alexandra also published 3 co-authored manuscripts. In 2012, they worked as a Graduate Research Associate at The Ohio State University. From 2013 to 2018, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Postdoctorate Scientist at Colorado State University and New England Biolabs, respectively. At Colorado State University, they developed a method coupling in vitro transcription with the RNA-dependent Type-IIIB CRISPR system and mentored a first-year Ph.D. At New England Biolabs, they established a high-throughput workflow and functional assays to identify and isolate novel enzyme activities from metagenomic libraries, characterized novel archaeal DNA repair proteins, and designed and executed NGS experiments. In 2020, they began working at Arrakis Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist, Scientist II, and Scientist, RNA Biochemistry.

Alexandra Gehring holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Colorado State University, obtained in 2017. Alexandra also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from The Ohio State University, obtained in 2013. Her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology and Chemistry was obtained from Butler University in 2012. Additionally, they have obtained two certifications from LinkedIn, "Leading Productive One-on-One Meetings" in December 2021 and "Decision-Making Strategies" in November 2021.
